I'm wanting to import the background used in one ppt file into an existing
ppt file. How do I do this?

Hey LW,

It depends on how the background was placed into the existing slideshow. Of
course, this should only be done if you have the permission of the copyright
holder for that image.

If it is simply a picture behind all the text, just select the picture, save
it to your desktop and import it into your new presentation.

If it really is the background of the slide, then right click on the slide
(in an empty space) and select save background (again to your desktop, and
import it to your new presentation.

If it is from the slide master, navigate to the and repeat the process
above.

I would strongly urge you not to use cut&paste for transferring any images
into PowerPoint. Most of the time it won't be a problem, but if PowerPoint
converts it into an OLE object when pasting, you will get significant file
bloat.

copy the background you want and paste directly to slide master (if you want
to have thee same background in every page
or
insert the background from master slide
or
transfer all your slides using the template (which has the background you
want)
