Hello, my wife has English CorelDraw 12 running on Japanese XP Home. I am using English CorelDraw on English Windows XP Pro. Whenever I try to open a file she has made on her computer Bitstream Font Navigator will prompt me to install some Japanese fonts before I can open the file, but typically these fonts have not been used to make the file. It is as if some fonts are being embedded in the file my wife makes regardless of whether she uses them or not. We don't have the same problem going the other way. She is never prompted to install a font unless I have used one that she doesn't have. Is there anyway to stop Bitstream Font Navigator prompting to install Japanese fonts that are not used.
Thanks,
Chris (Hunt) |

I think it is Corel doing the prompting, not Bitstream.
I suspect your wife is using a style sheet with "extra" fonts on it. If it is the default stylesheet the fonts will keep being requested on startup, and so on for every file with that stylesheet.
I have defined a style sheet with only one font in it on my system - and have given it a suitable name. When in doubt load the template with this name, then save....it should cure the irritation. Wew compile booklets with many folk submitting their own files which are imported - and every font under the sun is listed as being used, even if they are not.
You are right to rid of the problem - although only an irritation to you it can cause worries for anyone - such as a printshop - to whom you pass the files on. |
