How is it possible to edit a slide master created in Power Point 2003 using
Power Point 2007? I am not able to edit (cut/copy/paste) in the old slide
master anymore. |

No, but thanks. That link shows how to do it. That is not the problem. The
problem is that it can not be done even if we follow the instructions....?
The slide master created in PowerPoint 2003 can not be edited if it is opend
in PowerPoint 2007. It ccan be edited if it is opend in PowerPoint 2003. We
don't want to create new slide masters but to reuse the old ones.

You should be able to edit a 2003-master in 2007, I have no problems with my
old templates. One thing I can imagine are embedded fonts that are either
not avaible on your 2007-computer or are not allowed to be embedded.

You should be able to edit a 2003-master in 2007, I have no problems with my

As Pia says, you should be able to edit 2003 masters in 2007. I posted the
link so you could make sure you weren't trying to edit objects in 2007 on
the slide layouts, when you really need to edit them on the slide masters.
Since that's not the issue, then I'm not sure what would be, unless it's a
problem with embedded fonts (as Pia already mentioned).
What on the masters are you trying to edit?

pictures/graphics placed on the slide master(s) to represent organizations,
departments, etc. In the PowerPoint 2003 presentations these were
individually inserted pictures and could be deleted, resized, removed, etc.
The same presentations in Office 2007 seem to be considered as one background
on the Slide Master precluding any ability to manipulate the individual
pictures/images. I have yet to find a solution to this particularly annoying
problem.

If you want individual pictures on individual layouts, then don't put one on
the master and instead put the images on the individual layouts. You'll need
to actually do this in 2007, not in 2003, of course.

That doesn't solve the problem. We want the images on the Master so they are
in the top corners for all the lsides in the presentation (just like they are
now). The users have been migrated to 2007 from 2003. The presentations
they had with pictures placed individually on the Master slide now appear to
be considered as one background image in 2007 which effectively eliminates
the users ability to modify the Master slide with respect to those pictures.
They can't even select the individual picture(s) to place/re-use it in a new
presentation. To consider telling the users to start from scratch is a
"crap" answer in my opinion. Instead, we need to know how to be able to
manipulate the Master exactly with the same capability we had in Office 2003.
My limited knowledge on this topic so far lends me to believe a solution may
exist if we can retrieve the original Master slide as a template and edit
that way, but I haven't figured that out yet.

You could also make multiple masters in PPT 2007.
Masters have been completely overhauled and aremuch more powerful now,
because we have the ability to create custom slide layouts and add
placeholders. So just make multiple masters, much as you would have in 2003.
That's a lot to wade through when your user goes to Home tab | New Slide
gallery (bottom half of button), though.
The big thumbnail in the 2007 master view is the slide master, The little
ones are its associated slide layouts. The layouts inherit their settings
from the master they're associated with. So if you have a picture on a
master, associated layouts are gonna have that picture.
OR
Don't put an image on the master, but instead put the image on the slide
layout. Heck, create your own slide layouts (in master view) and add an
image to each of them. NOTE: I am NOT saying to put the images on the
individual slides, I am saying to put them on the individual LAYOUTS.
