Psp 9 won't open raw (CR2) files (says unsupported file type) open pspimage files "created " or "saved as" in X orX2 (says This is not a valid Paint Shop pro image file. What am I doing wrong? Is there a remedy for these problems & if so please point me to the solution Thanks |

I don't shoot RAW images, but it is likely that PSP doesn't support the particular RAW file produced by your particularl camera. Virtually all RAW files produced by different camera models, even those models from the same manufacturer, are different, so RAW support depends on the camera model, not just the maker.
PSP9 doesn't recognize your pspimages from X and X2 because you have not changed the options (when saving in X or X2) to make them PSP9 compatible. There's an Options button on the Save As dialogue that allows you to do so. However, if you are trying to save an X2 image as PSP9 compatible that requires a feature that v.X or X2 has but that is not available in v.9, then of course that won't be available in v.9 if you can open it in 9.

There is no such thing as "a" CR2 file. These Canon RAW files differ from camera model to camera model. You have to find out (from the Corel web site Support pages) whether your particular model of camera is supported. I haven't a clue what camera you are using.

Versions of PSP later than PSP 9 contain new features not in PSP 9. Examples of this include layer styles and 16 bit per channel images. PSP 9 cannot possibly cope with features in an image file that weren't even thought of (still less implemented) at the time PSP was created. The only way around this issue is to save PspImage files from later versions of PSP in a backwardly compatible version of the PSP format. You do this by doing File > Save As, selecting the PspImage format, and then pressing the Options button to specify with what version of PSP you want compatibility. Be warned that features not supported by PSP 9 (such as layer styles) will be destroyed in some way (e.g. by merging of layers) when you select backward compatibility.

See above.

Maybe. Your camera's RAW format is either supported by PSP or not. If the camera model appeared after the PSP 9 creation date it won't be supported since Corel haven't been updating camera RAW support for current PSP versions, never mind older versions. As for the PspImage issue it's just a self-inflicted problem. |

I would say that you have to convert your RAW files to .tiff files............
