I'd like to allow users access to a link from our intranet, this is a HTML
link (using a UNC path) to a DOT template file resident on our network. The
DOT file has macros and works without problem when running through Word.

The problem is that when the user clicks the link and the DOT file is loaded
through Internet Explorer (6 & 7) then the macros don't run, it just loads
the actual word document (initally this wasn't even loading in Word but a
change of the 'File Types' setting has cured this problem)

Using Firefox 3 the DOT template loads exactly as should be, with macros
intact. From clicking the link it loads directly into Word (Firefox 3 has an
'Applications' option that allows you to set Word docs to load directly in
Word).

Internet Explorer does eventually load it into Word but only after loading
the link into Internet Explorer and then passing over to Word. So presumably
this is preventing the macros from running.

I've tried everything from lowering IE security settings, macro security
settings within Word, adding our intranet as a trusted site but it's having
none of it.

Any help appreciated.
