Hi,
No one program can remove all malware and much of the malware currently in
circulation must be removed manually.

See these sites for help, including the posting of a HijackThis log to one

if I try to open a site with the address typed inm to the address bar, or
from the favourites drop down menu, a blank 'popup' window opens, taking
a
long time and taking 99% recources. It takes ages to close and if i stop
the process in task manager another windo appears. It wont let me
download
from sites like lavasoft. I downloaded hitmanpro on another computer and
ran that and this found lots of trojan, spyware etc but after running it
the
same thing happened, but a little faster this time.

Any other ideas

Hi Tom,

I guess you do not mean that IE speaks Korean (even if that is what you are
saying). IE cannot just switch languages.

I suppose you mean some web pages are rendered in Korean, and you want them
to display in English. You don't give us examples, so we have to guess. This
is mine: you are visting a website that detects the IP address of the
visitor and inferes the language from that IP address. If taht's the case,
there is not much you can do.

Kind regards

Hans

With enough grunt pigs can fly.
My understanding is that there is no such thing as a secure network, but it
is not in my interest to learn how to break security. I am sure that a web
search for 'hacking' will give you some leads.

Hi Roy,

I share your frustrations. I am a contractor and each gig I go to I have
to
fight with the network guys to get a build I can work on. It can take me
up
to a month to be productive, which is ok as I am being paid, but I would
rather hit the ground running rather than waiting around for
Administrative
changes.
The most productive way for me to work is to bring my laptop with me and
not
to rely upon their network. This is not possible all of the time as it is
impossible to replicate their network environment on my laptop.

One thing I have done at my latest gig is to convince the network staff
to
create a build for developers (not me in particular, as I will move on
when
the gig is done), that all contract staff can use. Some companies are
installing Public Access machines to allow their staff to do on-line
banking
and the like from their workplace.

Rather than antagonism, you should be looking for co-operation with your
network staff. Breaking the corporate firewall is difficult, if not
impossible, and you can bet that if they are doing their work properly
they
will be monitoring breaches, so they are bound to catch you out.

Having a sandboxed PC for public access and downloads is a lot cheaper
than
giving every-one un-bridled access to the web.

Regards.

Hi Roy,

You may be facing the sack if you circumvent your network firewall

Consult with your network administrators if you require a particular
piece
of software downloaded and installed on your work computer.

You have to remember that your work computer is not a PC (personal
computer). Your company probably spends a fortune trying to keep its
network
free of malware and virus.

Hello group
I am using IE6 browser.

I just found out that one favorite file source (rapidshare.com) was
banned from my network. I tried using the proxy servers which was
asuccessful turnaround with firewall protection and my colleagues
can
access the facebook, friendster, etc, which they can't by direct
connection the browser.
However whenever I tried rapidshare (yes the webpage can come out
but) I can't download the selected file as either the page just
refreshes or nust remain static.
Is there an effective turnaround for this?
Thank You!

Facing the sack?
LOL!
Its more of a game of wits, and I don't fear losing my job either!
And I don't have utterly malicious intent to the firm I work for .I
just want to teach a little bit of lesson some of these arrogant IT
bastards that are difficult to talk to whenever we need some help with
our computers. They have humiliated me and my colleages in the past.
They have challenged us that we can't break their firewall and
administrative restriction, which they were wrong in some part as were
able to surf websites that they put some sort of "lock".
Now if we can succeed downloading files from some restricted
websites, then that is sweet victory for us...
Anybody here that can symphatize with our cause.?
Any useful Ideas,,,hmmm?- Hide quoted text -

Thanks for that info. I am occasionally using a laptop but just don't
cut the mustard ..... the antagonism rans deep ... there is an axe to
grind...Even in extreme cases if we have to hack the system and some
heads may roll. we are now determined to teach these people a
lesson.....
If anybody familiar through accessing through the network tunnel
system via security shell (SSH )by using some tools such as the
portaputty or the like...can these be used for our purpose..?

I get the same error message but I think my situation is a bit different.

I have a Dell Dimension XPS R desktop, with an Intel chip, recently upgraded
to XP SP3.
My sound has not worked for over a year (Soundblaster Audigy 2 XS). (dont
know if it is involved in the problem, but some posts cite it as a problem)

Internet Explorer 7 - works fine - no problems.

The problem is that recently Ive noticed that the machine has been getting
slower and slower. This sometines happens when it has not been rebooted for
many weeks.
Following reboot and on startup after user login, I got the above error
0xC0000005 on program userinit (twice). After starting Task Manager and
manually starting Explorer.exe it proceeded to commence the startup
procedures (ie start programs in the registry and in the startup folder),
each of which got the same oxC0000005 error message, (although many have
appeared to startup).

I attempted to run the adaware, spybot, hijackthis etc all getting the error
message, basically nothing worked.
Did a system restore to 3 days ago - the system restore facility wont go
back to any previous months even though I installed SP3 about 6 weeks ago,
and rebooted about 4 times.
After system restore rebooting which started up the machine without any
error messages, I was able to run adaware, spybot, hijackthis - but they only
detected what appears to be minor problems which were cleaned.
Reboot again and the same thing - userinit failed to initialise, manual
start of explorer.exe, other startup program failures.

Decided to uninstall SP3 - go to Control panel and all I get is an
0xc0000005 on rundll32 for everything.

Many other programs also fail ie Adobe acrobat, reader etc.
However IE7 does work - I am able to download MS patches fixes, but cannot
install them - you guessed it - same error message.

I feel that my last resort is to Format and reinstall everything from
scratch, but have run out of ideas to try, so before I get too drastic I'm
trying here.

If anyone has some more ideas of what is going on - I'd be very greatful to
read them.

Cheers
Kevin

Yes, that is exactly what I meant. When I am in the hotel in Korea, somehow
IE detects that and offers my home page (such as Yahoo.com) in Korean
characters. If I can find an ENGLISH hyperlink, I can just click it but
sometimes its not even written in English so I don't know that's the button
to get an English version..

It seems to me that I ought be be able to specify in IE that I only want to
see the English language version of IE.

Thanks,

Tom

Look in IE Tools | Internet Options | General | Languages: If English is at
the top of the list or it's the only language listed, the language-version
of the page in question is being determined by a cookie. Not much you can
do about that.
