How do I insert superscripted & subscripted numbers or letters in the text of
a Word document?

If the text you want to make subscript or superscript is already typed in the
document, then select it and press either Ctrl+= to make it subscript or
Ctrl+Shift+= to make it superscript. These are keyboard shortcuts for going into
the Format > Font dialog and checking the corresponding box.

If you're about to type some text that you want subscript, you can press Ctrl+=
first, type the subscript, and then press Ctrl+= again to stop subscripting (and
a similar procedure works for superscripts).

I finally thought to replace normal.dot with an old backup of it, and now
everything works fine.

Thanks.

I can't see why you cannot delete the address from the dialog? However,
rename normal.dot to normal.old and rename the settings sub key of the Word
data key to oldsettings with Word closed and restart Word. (
LINK will show how to locate
the key - note that Word 2000 is Word 9.0 - whereas the dialogs are for Word
11.0)

You will have to reconfigure some of your settings, and copy the autotexts
from the old normal template to the new using the Organizer (ALT+F8
Organizer).

Word 2000 for PC. Using Windows XP Pro

I have had a return address customized using EnvelopeExtra1 for a
few years. I accidentally entered an address in the return address
box in the Envelopes and Labels dialog box, and now I can't get
EnvelopeExtra1 to work anymore. Instead, it uses whatever address is
in that return address box. I can't just delete that address. The
best that I can do is replace it with a single space. But when i do
that, I get no return address on the envelope. (I am guessing that I
am getting that single space on the envelope. Obviously, it is hard
to see that space, so I can't be sure.)

How can I completely delete that address? I tried deleting
Normal.dot, and the applicable word key from the registry, to no
avail.

Thanks,

Hi again, Bob:

You asked me: "Are the items that you're adding tied to macros from the
add-ins?"

I have no doubt that with some of the add-ins that there are macros tied to
them/it.
Does this change anything you have told me or is there something additional
I should consider because of this?

Thanks again

Hi Francine,

If you don't have .QAT as a file type association in Windows, set to open in IE or an editor program, you may want to make a copy of
the Word.QAT file and add .xml to the name (Word.QAT.xml) and then open it with Internet Explorer. It will list the controls
(buttons) in the QAT in a structured, printable format.

mso:NameofCommand entries are MS Office built in.
msox: are separators of QAT groups.
x1: would be 1st external (add-in) linked item
x2: the next item

The tests would be to see if
(a) The expected entries are there and how they are constructed, compared to other entries). [Word can erase or modify entries
that don't conform].

(b) In each QAT entry is visible= set to "true"
(there are several not-visible (false) entries in a default QAT that could be context sensitive.

(c) Check to see if the entries are in the
mso:sharedControls> section of the QAT or another section.

(d) Check the date and time before you start Word, after you add your buttons and close Word then again after close Word after not
making changes and seeing if your entries are still there.

Are the items that you're adding tied to macros from the add-ins?

Bob:

One more thing. I decided to test this with my own personal computer before
I get into my client's office. I searched for the Word.QAT, of course, found
it. When I double-click to open it and select IE per your suggestion, it
looks like it is about it open it, but then I get into this loop of whether I
want to OPEN or SAVE the file over and over again - never opening up the
file. I did add a few more buttons to my own QAT and then closed Word, so it
wasn't open when I tried.

Any suggestions?

Hi Francine,

You may want to check all of the settings in the Trust Center, rather than just those for Add-Ins as to what is disabled/enabled or
Trusted/left to chance :)

If the client is using Hummingbird I'm assuming they're setup by IT admin folks. You may also want to check with them to see what
policy settings they have or scripts they're using on startup of any Word or other Office app session initialization.

Hi, I'm having the same problem. I'm trying to print off legal documents
that were sent to me by my lawyer. I'm taking the document attachment from
Hotmail and Word is opening them and the date is todays date on each
document. I tried the Alt F9 and change to {createdate} and then F9 again
and that didn't do it. I have Microsoft Office Word 2003. Any help would be
great,..thanks

I can get to Microsoft Outlook through webmail- and it will start in safe

go through my webmail why isn't there an easy solution to this problem? I
was told by a DELL rep that there may be a "patch" but it is certainly not an
on-line choice - and of course I was told by Microsoft that it would cost
$49.95 to repair the problem.....your thoughts and insight are certainly
appreciated....

I recently had a new motherboard and hard drive installed - and
re-installed
Office 2003. The programs i.e. Word and Excel work fine, however my
Outlook
does not - whenever I click on same it gives me an error message, then I
have
to start it in safe mode. I have uninstalled and reinstalled three
times -
was told that the new hard drive may not be compatible with 2003 and that
I
would have to purchase Office 2007. This does not make sense to me - any
further information would be helpful.

Hi,

I have a large word document, which gets a little bit difficult to
read.
It has large amounts of tables with values mentioned below in the
table, some of these tables don’t have any values mentioned below but
need to have a title.

I want to create a document so that the display of certain information
can be expanded or collapsed.

I found a wonderful article, which provides a sample here:http://gregmaxey..mvps.org/Toggle_Data_Display.htm

But I am unable to replicate this in the word document I have. The
issues I have:

1.If I have more than two tables then the control to show/hide only
works for the first table and not the second table

2.How to add a macro to a control button. i.e.: if I define a control
button , and want certain macro runs when I press that button , how to
link the macro with the control button.

Any help or pointers would be great

Rajesh
