How do I "dim" bullet points in PowerPoint?

Back in the good old days, I could make items on an animated slide "dim" when
the next item appeared. I can't find anything like this under animation or
even custom animation, and searching in help for "dim" yields nothing. Does
anyone know if this is still possible? If so, how the heck is it done?

I'm guessing you had 97 or 2000 and have moved to a later version?

In XP onwards it's pretty much the same (but different to 2000!)

Double click the entry in the Custom Animation pane (or use the drop down
arrow)
Choose the tab marked "Effect"
