Go the extra step and paste your copy into Notepad and save as a *.txt file.

Open that in Excel and you will get the Text Import Wizard wherein you can
designate delimiter and column data format.

I saw your example of 6.30 being converted to June 30. I could
replicate this, but it took setting my decimal point character to
comma ( , ) and my short date format to m.d. If your locale's decimal
point character is a comma and the date separator (between year, month
and day) is a period, then pasting data in US locale number formats is
going to lead to trouble. OTOH, if your locale's decimal point
character is a period but Excel is still converting 6.30 to June 30,
then either Excel is seriously screwed up on your machine, or there
could be some extra text getting pasted.

Could you provide an EXACT sample of the troublesome data you're
trying to paste into Excel, or better yet a url to the web site?
