I recently reinstalled XP Pro & now Update doesn't work. Every time that I try to install updates, it fails. Why? What do I have to do to correct the problem?
Thank you. David |

I wouldn't update at all if I were you. I can't prove it but M$ collects info thru the updates as well as thru the "error report" scheme. You're fine. |

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you perform a new Windows XP installation or you repair a Windows XP installation [Try Resolutions Method 1 and/or 2] LINK
NB: Ignore the title, if necessary; also applies to Upgrade installs, and Recovery installs. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin LINK DTS-L LINK

What an *incredibly* absurd statement. What's wrong with installing Critical Security Updates ? You really need to loosen that tin foil hat and let your brain breathe.

Hi Have you also updated the Service Packs? I believe that without the Service packs installed, updates will not work. Regards Barry

I was not replying to you, Barry. Stick with your own thread, please.
